When I torture Customer Service in return...
I will tell you one thing, I am not a very nice person when someone disappoints me as a customer. Its especially true when that someone is a big multi-billion dollar international firm. You might remember it from my shitty experience at the Café Coffee Day. From Idea Cellular to Hewlett Packard, here are some incidents where I avenged them single handedly on a phone call, or other wise.
When Idea Cellular Stole from me-
During my first year in the college, upon several localite's recommendation I picked up an idea cellular sim card and started using it as my primary contact. After a few months of service, it started spontaneously sending me to offensive sites to download pornographic pictures or videos, every time I tried to surf the net. It happened several times and each time they would deduct some amount of money from my account for "using" their services, in spite of the internet subscription being fully paid for already. One fine day when I was already mad at something, it happened again and it broke my patience down. I called the service, waited for a representative and went nuclear on him. At the top of my lungs I made it clear that I already have an internet subscription, that I am not responsible for any of the websites idea is opening by itself, that if I needed to watch porn, I knew more ways to do it for free then himself and finally I fired the big guns, the best for the last. I threatened him of suing Idea at the consumer court for not only stealing from me but also for sending my phone to offensive websites without my consent. After a good lung exercise I had, he apologised to me and promised it wont happen again. Till this day, I am still using the same number and not a single such event has occurred since 4 years.
The annoying calls from a salon-
Me and my friends discovered this nice unisex salon called Aantra. We went there two or three times and it seemed like a pretty good place at justified prices. In a few days this appreciation turned into a major hatred when the salon started calling us thrice everyday to book an appointment or with some kind of offers. It started with few sms each day which could be easily ignored but then we started getting calls any time of the day. During lectures, dissections, practicals and the worst was while I took my evening nap, which is of great personal importance to me. One call and its all destroyed. In fact one fine day as it rang during a lecture, I was almost thrown out of the class by the professor. That's when I decided I need to give them a taste of the real me. But these people had tough skins. So I had to bark at them the same lines quite a few times before they realised I am never coming back to their salon again. The calls stopped. But my friends were still being harassed, so I did them a favour and started answering for them every time these a** holes called. Oh!!! What a lovely outlet it proved to be, for all my anxiety and frustration from life. Lol. Soon their phones stopped ringing too. Oh! I am so good at it.
The bad day of a Hewlett Packard representative-
By the time, I was famed for my command and boldness over phone. My friend's 6 months old flagship HP laptop started betraying him and the customer care was hesitant in dealing appropriately as it was a pretty costly affair. My friend asked me for help. I willingly said- sure. So I dialled the service immediately and spoke of the issue firmly, but when I was met with some arguments I dropped some nukes over the man on the other side. Comparing it to Apple and the quality of Service it provides, I insulted HP big time. I poetically spoke of the betrayal of my loyalty towards the brand, my rejection of all MacBook recommendations from peers, and a lot more, so much so as the person became defensive about HP. I saw that in a customer service person for the first time. Cool!! However, he then forwarded our complaint and the company repaired the computer free of cost, honouring the contract which would have other wise cost him over 500 USD. I was so impressed that I own an HP PC myself right now.
Apart from the bad encounters above, some firms do provide outstanding after sales customer service in India. Namely- Microsoft, Apple, Amazon etc. While some are in serious need of quality and quantity in their services (read: Chinese Phone Companies). All in all, the conclusion is- I love shouting at strangers on phone, nothing more. :p
