The quest of nostalgia often proves unworthy. It comes when it comes. Naturally! The Lion King is a Disney legend that would be remembered for a hundred years to come. Sequel or no sequel. The trailer for the new sequel looked amazing, with stunning scenes of Africa, and so realistic but this time it had Beyoncé in it. So it was hard to miss. So I made a stopover to the nearest Cinepolis, first day, second show! It began with great setting, powerful voices, detailed characters and stunning graphics. James Earl Jones as Mufasa was indispensable to this project. It made me wonder if Amitabh Bachchan would have been a better choice than Sharukh Khan to voice Mufasa in the hindi version of the movie. The cinematography felt a little copy pasted, lacking a natural flow which created a lesser immersive experience than one would hope for. So I found time to watch the latest bollywood release- Kabir Singh with Shahid Kapoor and a few beautiful women I’m not bothered to learn the names of. After a long time, medical profession and live of doctors was the baseline for a very mainstream movie, the last one was Munna Bhai MBBS, and it was a wonderfully entertaining with great social message. So I had a lot of expectations. It was a remake of the south Indian movie Arjun Reddy and I’m not familiar with it at all. So after much anticipation we watched Thor Ragnarok. With the rising tide that is Feminism, we are seeing more Female protagonists and antagonists in Hollywood than ever. So this one had one of my favs, Cate Blanchett as Hela, the goddess of death and super-powerful big sis of Thor, the god of thunder who was exiled and imprisioned (or something like that) by her father Odin since her ever growing thirst of conquering and winning would have put an end to the universe as we know it. As God daddy passes away, she is released and starts a journey of revenge and conquest beyond the imaginations of Asgaurd. Standing before her are Thor, Loki and Hulk. With amazing displays of the powers of each one, its ascertained that Hela is invincible. So they fight together along with Heimdall and a lost Valkyrie warrior. As a little kid many years ago, I was scrolling through various channels on the TV in search of something interesting when I came across this amazing movie about witches that gave me nightmares later on. I could only watch half the movie and never knew the beginning or the end of the movie and I thought I must watch the whole movie some day. Since then it was out of sight, out of mind. This was at least 10 or 12 years old and guess what? This afternoon I was browsing through web and found an article about the best transformations of actors through make up in Hollywood and there it was, Anjelica Houston as the Grand Empress witch, which brought back that day and the horrid scene I saw. Today I went out with friends after a very long time to watch a movie: Wonder Woman, even though I had my eyes set on Baywatch, but they convinced me. All DC comics super heroes I know are Batman, Superman and Green Lantern. My only memory of Wonder Woman was when Penny was forced to wear the costume by her friends for New Years Eve costume party in The Big Bang Theory.
