A month with my iPhone 7 Plus: the Good, the Bad and the Worse
Every thing that shines is not gold, but something that does not shines can be gold too. Obviously I'm talking about my matte black iPhone 7 Plus I bought exactly a month ago. My first iDevice and also my first high end phone. The ride ever since is one heck of a roller coaster. Here is my amateur analysis of using this magnificent beast for a month.
THE GOOD...
Every thing you see, touch and feel is remarkable. That's some strong words for a person who was using a cheap Chinese iOS imitating android phone for the last one year. Either way, I'm totally floored. The matte black finish is a total looker, the cold n sturdy metal finish, the curvy Corning Gorilla Glass is to die for, the magnificent display even at 1080p, the speakers, the water resistant IP67 rating etc etc, everything about it is flawless. But one thing that mesmerises me like a child at Disney Land is the camera(s). The Dual setup of cameras at the back essentially for lossless optical zoom is to die for. Not in my life have I used such good cameras in a phone. The portrait mode is undeniably the best feature, so is the live photos and the selfie flash. Also amazing is the battery life of the phone. I generally have to charge it every one to one and a half days depending upon how much games am I playing.
Also the Operating System is very well polished. I haven't encountered a single bug ever since I started using the phone. I listen to a lot of music and the music app is very well done too. The phone gets regularly updated. The processor is a beast- A10 Fusion chip is the epitome of the advancements made in processing tech. Everything you throw at it- from multi-tasking to heavy games, it flies through it.
THE BAD...
Well!! After using Android for several years, you are bound to miss various features from it. Specifically, the ease of transferring music and files from my pc to the phone is now interrupted by something called "iTunes". I'm learning to live with that, no biggie. The phone also takes one heck of a time to charge, no quick charge tech available here, unlike even the cheapest Android phones. sucker! The phone gets a bit warm upon playing heavy games like War Robots. The touch id does not works when my fingers are wet. No headphone jack!!! But I'm learning to live with the adapter provided. And I regret not getting the 128 GB version of the phone.
THE WORSE...
I'm scared I will fill my 32 GBs too fast since essentially the apps grow into large sizes very soon in iPhones. Nothing Else.
So that's a summary is- I'm totally blown and I'm lovin it. :p I'm crushing so hard on my new phone that I want its whole family with me- namely the iPad and the MacBook. Apple has the most effective and successful marketing strategy of projecting its products as the ultimate definition of lifestyle in an upper middle class society. I used to be very intelligent but I don't mind falling for this strategy of theirs, cuz in my mind the question always was- when I succumb to it??, but never- if???
Ciao, see you soon.
