Taking India to the World: Priyanka Chopra

She is an actor, a singer, a dancer, a director, a producer, a model, a fashionista, a philanthropist, a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, a no one to a Global Icon story: Priyanka Chopra is living the dream and she very well deserves it. The story began in 2000 when a girl born and brought up at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand won the Miss India World title and went on to win Miss World beauty pageant.

I am a huge huge fan of Priyanka Chopra, not from the very beginning, but from the times when she showed the world how versatile of an actor she is. My favourite movies of her would be Bajirao Mastani, Mary Kom and Fashion. Other than that most of the projects she is choosing these days are very diverse and high in Quality.

This careful curating of her work is quite new actually. Like every other beautiful women who wins a beauty pageant or dates Salman Khan, Bollywood embraces them with arms wide open. After winning the Miss World title Bollywood directors flocked to her doors to sign her up and so she did. The first several movies she played the usual Damsel in Distress to the likes of Salman, Sharukh and Akshay Kumar. Its the movie Fashion that gave everyone the confidence that this talented young woman can carry off a movie on her own shoulders, and needs no Khan to make it a commercial success (something unheard of in Bollywood till her and Vidya Balan emerged). Since then through several hits and misses, and a varying portfolio of woman titled movies like Jai Gangajal, Mary Kom, 7 Khoon Maaf etc she has more than proved her self to be a 'Hero' than a Heroine. Apart from several Box Office success, she was rewarded with a plethora of awards including the very honourable Padma Shri from the President of India.

Mean while, she also experimented with Music. Her first song was produced by Will.I.Am, a musician of the level to have worked with Lady GaGa. A huge hit for a debutant artist, her second song was with none other than Pitbull. Apart she has also worked with ChainSmokers and DMX. With so much of commercial and critical success, in no time people at the Beverely Hills took notice and our Desi Girl landed Quantico, with the ABC Network. Riding on the success of Quantico, PeeCee is the New International face of GUESS. She is a judge on Project Runway, she co-hosted 'Live with Kelly', co-hosted The View, and been on several shows like The Ellen Show, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Jimmy Kimmel live, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Late Show with Stephen Colbert etc etc. The list is really really long and she has mesmerised thousands through her Charm, Intelligence and of course beauty.

She also won People's Choice Awards two years consecutively, been to The Oscars, The Golden Globes, The Emmys, The Grammys, The Met Gala, and made a lot of High Profile Hollywood friends. Her First Hollywood project will be Baywatch with biggies like Dwayne 'The Rock' Jhonson and Zac Efron. Launching in America tomorrow and in India in June first week, allegedly she has already signed her next Hollywood project 'A kid like jake' sharing the screen space with none other than our beloved Jim Parsons a.k.a. Dr Sheldon Cooper. Whilst here, She will be seen in yet another biopic about N.A.S.A. Astronaut Kalpana Chawla, her 2nd after Mary Kom.

The list of her accomplishments is too long to be covered in a single article. BTW did you know her first produced and directed movie 'Ventilator' (Marathi) won 3 National Awards just last month, and her next is going to be 'Pahuna' (Assamese). All this achievements and believe me she is just getting started. Well granted the path to Hollywood was actually pioneered by Aishwarya Rai and Irfan Khan, but Priyanka has taken it to a whole another level and she is being followed by several other Bollywood stars like Deepika Padukone, Sushant Singh Rajput etc. From celebrating Holi with Jimmy Fallon to partying with Rihanna and Adriana Lima, PeeCee is defying the boundaries of a Bollywood star, and in doing so she is breaking down every single stereotype the people in west associate us Indians with. I am so very proud of her and Pray, Wish and Hope she goes very far and very high, taking India to the World, taking Bollywood to the West and in a way recreating the image of Indians throughout the world. Love You PeeCee. Here I will leave you with her most recent and absolutely fabulous Interview- 73 Questions with VOGUE USA. Its a must must must watch...
