Darkness Within: The Revelation

This is 4th episode of the fiction- Darkness Within, pls read the first 3 episodes before reading any further if u haven't already.

Sabrina was living the dream. The amazing stock in the kitchen, the closets, the exotic wines and the massive television was to die for. Its been 3 weeks since the UBS incident and Sabrina has let her guard down. The best part of the day was when she would put on Avantika's expensive clothes and stilettos and play X-Box. She never knew being rich makes life so comfortable. But deep inside she had no idea where she was heading.

Morning 7:00 pm Tuesday- The phone rang. Sabrina generally wont answer any rings but out of her drowsiness in her super soft bed, she dived her hand onto the night stand and picked up the call. "Helllooo..." There was no reply. Its then Sabrina realised what a big mistake she just did. She sprang the  phone back, jumped out of the bed and crawled into the balcony to see if she could notice any police vans or something heading towards the building from the highway. Silent as ever. She unplugged the phone and made herself a coffee. The rest of the day was pretty monotonous, hour long Jacuzzi bath, Italian moisturisers, and back to her TV set. Being filthy rich is kinda boring she thought. Hours went by and she fell asleep on the couch.

By the time she woke up, it was dark outside and in. The TV was still on and it was very humid. It was Raining outside and a massive window was open next to her rendering the AC useless. It was all wet due to rain splash. Shutting down the glass window, it struck her mind that she never opened the window herself and it wasn't in the afternoon. A sudden pang of strife struck her heart. Was there an intruder in the house??? Or just her carelessness. She debated whether to stay there or look around for assurance?? What if its a robbery attempt? Its Delhi so its completely possible. (LOL!) But what she was about to discover was more thrilling then scary.

When she slowly walked into the bedroom, the scene was inexplicable. A man dressed in black was searching for something while thousands of envelopes, letters, documents and files lay all over the rug. He was a foreigner. He was one of Avantika's boyfriends. He was Leo, the one she didn't liked and was kinda scared of.

He noticed her and in a fraction of second he bounced up and pulled out a gun. "Where is she and who are you??" Sabrina's heart raced like a train. What fresh hell did fall upon her. She immediately raised her hands in the air and stepped back in fear. "I-I- I am Sabrina. I'm Avantika's friend. We have met before. Rem-Remember we went to that french bar one day. We had a couple of drinks while Avantika vomited all over the....." He shouted- "Where the hell is that Bitch?" A terrified Sabrina yelled-" I have no idea. Pls donot shoot me. I have just taken asylum over here cuz the police thinks I'm responsible for that mess with army. But I'm innocent. Avantika might have framed me by using my identity for her transactions although I have no idea how, when, and why".

A gradually resolving mind of Leo convinces him to put his gun down. "She framed you too??" asks softly the Leo Sabrina never knew. Tears start rolling down his eyes, he bent down on his knees and started sobbing like a child. She didn't knew what to do or say but one thing was clear, he was wronged just like her, and that he was not dangerous. Still careful, she sits down on the floor- " what happened with you?" He wiped his tears-"Nothing that concerns you" and walked away. Sabrina grabbed him and yelled-"It totally concerns me and you need to speak right now."

Few minutes later, Sabrina and Leo were sitting on the couch and talking with beers in their hands. Leo says- "She framed me in the case. I was in India waiting for another massive case to cool down. I was in Italy before. I was working for a small drug cartel. Just pot and stuff. Nothing too dangerous. One day my boss says me that he needs to transfer some money into people's account to hide it from an ongoing investigation. I say yes and next thing you know, theres a billion dollar in my account and I am some notorious wanted smuggler. Some politician needed help with his stash and that son of a bitch helped him at my cost. You heard about that smuggler Federico Lazarev?? That's me. Leo is a cover up story." Sabrina's jaw dropped. She had no idea how huge this scandal was. He continued- "I gave up a lot of information to the intelligence and they allowed me to flee out of the country. But now the cartel wants to kill me. I came here to hide and one day when I was too drunk, I blabbed all about it to Avantika. Later on I hear that she is in contact with the cartel, giving up my location for money. That cunt!! Now they framed me with this ongoing business with your firm, cleaning their own hands up and punishing me!! hitting two targets in one arrow. Now the Whole world wants me." "I'm curious as to why did you choose India?", asked Sabrina. "Well, cheap beer, beautiful girls what else does a guy needs??" She chuckled.

He soon left. A lot of her questions of hers were answered today. Now the only mystery that remained was about the scandal at Vandana Enterprises. Was it even real? Who was responsible for it if it was? When will her name get cleared up from all this?
