Met Gala 2018!!!
The Metropolitan Museum Annual Gala event theme of 2018 has been released and its freekin' good one.
FASHION and RELIGION!!!
Last year amazing things happened and not one, but two Bollywood superstars were invited. Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone. The theme was apparently to dress more manly, sounds better in French and Priyanka adorned a dramatic massive trench coat made my mega designer Ralph Lauren and Deepika wore something white and quite. :p They both looked gorgeous and I expect them and more Bollywood stars to be invited every year. In 2018, the event is slated for 30th of April.
So this year the theme is- Fashion and Religion. One of the more controversial themes of Met Gala. While I'm very much looking forward to seeing my favourite celebrities out there, I'm a little concerned about Indians on the red carpet. No I adore Indian costumes of all kind. The point is its all traditional wear- sarees and stuff which pretty much the west knows about. We pretty much don't have any religious (or even historic in that sense) mainstream costumes I guess like kimonos in Japan, old chest corsettes in France etc. Anyways its none of my business. I just have to sit back and enjoy the drama on the red carpet. My usual favourites are Rihanna, Beyoncé and now Priyanka Chopra. Every person wears their's or their designer's interpretation of the theme, however there are no hard and fast rules, the theme is promoted, not mandatory for attendees.
FASHION and RELIGION!!!
In the past, this very-exclusive event has been used to collect funds for the functioning of the Museum. But thanks to Anna Wintour, (Editor-in-Chief, Vogue USA) this event has become the epitomy of Fashion and Relevance. A seat at the table costs 25000 USD, and that's in case you get an invitation. You are either an a-list actor or a grand musical phenomenon. Every year, biggest names in the world like Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Rihanna, Madonna, J-Lo, Kanye and the Kardashians etc show up and dazzle up the place in dresses according to the theme pre decided by Wintour. It is considered the biggest A-list event of the year and you have to know Anna Wintour, the Devil in Prada, pretty closely in order to get in.
