Why Tejas is no small feat ??! (in layman's term)

Image
, After almost 30 years in development at HAL, when compared to international biggies like Gripen from SAAB, the Tejas does falls short but its too quick to be discounted, and actually it represents more than a sub par army jet and I will tell you why... After planning started in 1980, development didn't start until 1990 when the funds actually started to flow into the project. Built with a meagre budget of 1 billion USD, Tejas is the first indigenously built light weight fighter jet by India's HAL. After several delays due to Engine procurement, funds shortage and sanctions on India after 1998 underground atomic testings, the Tejas started flying by 2004 and so far it has hadn't had much of a glitch. That's not to say it doesn't has issues. The engine is imported from GE (cuz the proposed indigenous Kaveri couldn't be developed on time), which is not providing enough thrust, the payload is not huge and it weighs a little too much for the given category/en

India's #Metoo Explosion!!

When a long forgotten actress Tanushree Dutta finally came out about her sexual woes at the hands of the veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar, a man who has mastered theatre, Marathi as well as Hindi movies and whose acting skills knows no bounds, it created a chain reaction when more and more women came out with there stories alleging over half a dozen celebrities- not just men, but women too, of sexual harrasment at the work place. These are not minor celebrities either- veteran actor Alok Nath, director Vikas Bahl, comedians Tanmay bhatt and Gursimran Khamba, Musician Kailash Kher, Union Minister MJ Akbar, comedian Aditi Mittal etc. It was a shocking revelation and one that has divided the country. I was talking to a friend last night and he called it a copy-cat movement from the west, but he had no answer to the question why his favourite Bollywood actress, who is one of the top most A-lister of Bollywood currently rests to gain from alleging work place harrasement on a direc

VEEP: Comedy couldn't get any finer

Image
It wasn't long time ago that I thought Modern Family was the best internationally acclaimed comedy series on TV, but change is what happens every time you think you know something. I watched the first season of Veep and realized theres nothing quite like it. A comical satire on American Politics, it spoke to me cuz it came awfully close to my perception of American Politics. And the curses- they are half the fun of that show. Universally critically acclaimed, its a sparkling Crown jewel of HBO. So the plot revolves around a rich bred politician Selina Mayer, played by 'American TV's Meryl Streep'- Julia Louis Dreyfus, who dreams of becoming the first elected female President of the United States, but mostly for the perks and power, and not quite for the privilege and duties of the position. She is not a good orator, not an intellect, nor a fine stateswoman, and everyday is a disaster waiting to happen in her office. The show begins after she loses the election t

The Post

So I finally found time to watch this epic movie and in one word- Im floored. 3 of the most reputed talents in the Hollywood- Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep came together for this Biopic and since the day of announcement I just knew this movie was going to give me severe goosebumps. And it delivered. So its all about the Pentagon Paper leaks in 1970s in the President Richard Nixon regime which brought a massive truth in front of the American public as well as the world. So basically The United states was at war with North Vietnam for a period of 30 years to prevent a communist take over of South Vietnam by the North Vietnam. The American army lost billions and during Nixon period 300 army personal deaths were occuring each week while the several successive government kept assuring the media and people that they were making progress each day. The truth was that American army was not at all trained for densely canopied rainforests of Vietnam which the Vietnamese m

A Star is Born...!!

A lot of pop or otherwise, artists have tried hands-on with acting but very few could find the connection genuine and strong enough to stick to it. (Except for JLo! This one woman does it all) Over the years Madonna failed, Shakira's same, Rihanna, Nicky Minaj doesn't wants to do movies anymore, Beyoncé hasn't done any move in like a decade ('Cadillac records' a biopic on the life of legendary black singer Aretha Franklin was her last, R.I.P. Aretha) in spite of the fact that she is brilliiant. But this autumn, Bradley Cooper's directoral debut and a remake of a legacy, starring the one and only Lady Gaga seems to be poised to change that. We all know theres nothing this woman cant do. She jumps off the height 15 storey buildings for NFL while 100s of drones dance behind. She stood alone in front of Trumps building, at midnight, with a board that says 'Love Trumps Hate' when he announced the deportation programs for millions of latinos that have be

Apple- of my eyes!!!

Image
The first trillion dollar firm in the human history represents more than just unimaginable profits. The Cupertino based giant is neither the first nor the largest manufacturer of smartphones yet it stands the tallest, of all firms in the whole world. what happened as such... The first iPhone was launched in 2007 while its behemoth of a rival- Nokia was at its peak. Soon Nokia's shares started sliding from a record market capital of around 250 Billion USD until its flailing smartphone business was sold to Microsoft for 7.3 Billion USD. It happened so because Apple pretty much revolutionized the industry. For example Apple brought to mainstream- Touch based input system, minimalism, fingerprint sensors, exclusive App store, proprietry software on all its devices, keen eye on craftsmanship of devices, yearly launches of new models, one flagship serves all system, exclusive tie ups with carriers etc. Further Apple has been able to generate a cult following throughout the glob

Tesla- of the Future

Image
Pet project of Billionaire Tycoon Elon Musk, Tesla motors brought into the mainstream- Powerful, Quality Electric Vehicles, at a time with no competition. His other projects like SpaceX and Hyperloop are just as revolutionary. So what makes Tesla Motors so important in the world?? At a time when each country is scrapping its funds for petroleum imports and reduce its carbon footprint cuz of impending climate change and more, while the only mainstream, concentrated source of energy are the ones Fossil, depleting fast and spewing International hate and paranoia, Economic instabilities, debt that several countries wont recover from, and last but not the least- Pollution. At such uncertain times, Tesla shows theres a clean road to the future. Ahead of its time and ahead of its competition, Tesla motors shows us a dream where not just our cars, but our trucks also run on clean energy, zero emission. The electric current if sourced from renewable energy will be win-win. Internation

Call of the Hour...

The sad demise of Ex- Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee has just made me aware how scarce are men of his status, the giant leaders who have a vision and shoulders strong enough to take a democracy of 1.3 Billion people forward, each day a little bit till it has made a real change in the common man's life. We owe our freedom, our prosperity, and everything we have to such great leaders, It has been a long journey since India achieved freedom from British Imperialism, and by the end of 2018 India will overtake The Great Britain as 5th largest economy of the world. All the thanks to our current Prime Minister Narendra Modi!! And while our PM is taking the country forward to the most positive state since a really really long time, The longest running ruling party of the country is so hell bent on misogyny and patriarchy that they refuse to move on from their failed plans of putting a giant baby as the PM of this country. They have Priyanka Gandhi right unde

Big Release!!

Its here! Its here! Its here! After asking us to wait even more, the 'Queen killer, with massive rear' has finally released her 4th studio album titled "Queen". Packed tightly with 19 tracks, unlike the new trend of mini-albums, Nicki just gave us a buttload of Nicki to hear to, and I couldn't be happier, especially when I'm on bedrest due to a cold situation. Complete with collabs from The Weekend, Lil' Wayne, Labrinth, Future and his majesty Eminem, himself. Few hours and already No. 1 @iTunes of 64 countries, this album is supposed to re-affirm Nicki's Crown at the game and, so far so good. Ever since Cardi B rocked me, I was so in need of a Nicki dose. And now I'm so on the clouds, if you know what I mean! Also on account of being so biased, I wont be reviewing it at all, I will just bask in her glory and everything else will be taken care of. Adios. #NickiMinaj #Queen Heres the track list

A Revelation called Beyonce...

Image
She is 37 years old, a wife loyal to the fault, mother of 3 but she still manages to take away breaths of millions with her voice and her suave. The biggest Fashion icon there is, her stage presence is a lesson in textbooks for artists to come for the next century or so. But why do some people hate her?? Wikipedia says-  Throughout her solo career, BeyoncĂ© has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making her one of the world's best-selling music artist s . She has won 22 Grammy Awards and is the most nominated woman in the award's history. She is also the most awarded artist at the MTV Video Music Awards , with 24 wins, including the Video Vanguard Award . The Recording Industry Association of America recognized BeyoncĂ© as the Top Certified Artist in America, during the 2000s decade. In 2009, Billboard named her the Top Radio Songs Artist of the Decade, the Top Female Artist of the 2000s decade, and awarded her their Millennium Award in 2011 . In 2014, she

So the world came to a standstill, ' Everything Is Love ' is now out and about. An Album with the highest possible profile collab of 'The Queen' and Jay-Z, announced live in their London On the Run II Concert day. Essentiallly finishing a trilogy after Lemonade and 4:44 , arguably the finest works of 2016 and 2017, now The Carters are back with another one in 2018. Everything Is Love is a compact album with 9 tracks, essentially rap/hip-hop duets of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, talking about their deepest feelings of loses and triumphs, and let me tell you- its Triumph through and through. Now available on all major platforms including Tidal, iTunes and Spotify. THE BAD- Still looking for'em. THE GOOD- Theres a lot to talk here. Everything Is Love is a mature, well balanced and still new at its core. It goes without saying Beyoncé outshines her husband through out. But then she is she, and we are all more than happy about it. The first single- Apeshit was rel

Are you celebrating International Happiness Day?

Image
What comes to mind when I say happiness? Some people find it in love, some family, fame, career etc. Wikipedia says - In philosophy, happiness is translated from the Greek concept of eudaimonia, and refers to the good life, or flourishing, as opposed to an emotion. In psychology, happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being which can be defined by, among others, positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Happy mental states may reflect judgements by a person about their overall well-being. For me happiness is a stable professional life and being close to my family and my "friends" and music. And Im sure my friend who asked me to write about Happiness finds joy in annoying the shit out of people around her. :p Theres a huge writers block in my head right now because I'm not in the best of minds currently so let me ask you this- Whats unhappiness? Sadness as one calls it is an emotional pain associated with, or characterized b

Goodbye College!!!

Image
So exactly 4 and a half years back I started the journey of my Graduation, 2000 kms away from home. With my admission to a Medical School, I was never more excited in my life. Those were the innocent days when I still believed in the power of men and the strength of oneself to conquer the world. I still do but with better understanding of the phrase "One's own Enemy." The abundantly fabled College life was not totally what I expected it to be. A myriad of failures, wins, heartbreaks and sleepless nights was what it was. When I started I remember being anxious about the fact that the course was almost 6 years long, but someone told me that I wont even realize how fast this time would pass. And here I am, on a lonely night, listening to Adele and writing an article about it. On February 10th, 2018 we had our final exams results declared. I was on a train when I was forwarded the results and It was a moment to remember. Happiness, anxiety, surprise, shock- There was lo

Oprah for 2020!!!

Image
So after the latest Golden Globes, which I couldn't watch cuz of my exams, there was a lot of buzz regarding Oprah Winfrey, and a possibility of her running for The American Presidency and a few of you guys know she is one of my greatest idols. Better late than never, hence I'm here to shed some of my golden light on the matter. To be honest I stayed away from the articles regarding that, cuz I didn't want a distraction. It was too much on the nose. I mean I'm still traumatized with the results if the last Election. I didn't think that it was possible for a thing of past, with no fault of yours to destroy your future. With all the qualities and compromises, I chose her but it was not to be. The glass ceiling will break though, no matter what. As soon as we were done with papers, I made an effort and one of our beautiful "cloudy" nights, I listened to Oprah's speech and it was good. So I listened to it again! and again!! What I cant quite resolve
