My Currency Catastrophy...

It was 2010. Most unfortunate things happened to me in this year. You might remember I used to stay away into the main city, for my 11th and 12th grade studies, our car chauffer would often drive me to my school on Mondays or during exam period. One such day I was in a great hurry to reach my school. The car was waiting for me and my dad asked me to take some cash from my mom in order to get some fuel for the car on the way. I ran to my mother, being busy she just directed me to her purse which would usually lie in the cupboard in her bedroom. In a great hurry I reached for the purse and grabbed the first four-five hundred rupees notes kept together totalling to two thousand. I left in a rush without a clue of what was about to happen. An hour past we reached a big Petrol Pump in the city. I asked the employee to fuel up my car with 2000 Rs worth of petrol. He did the same, I reached for my wallet and paid him the money, he looked at the currency carefully as is customary and then a

A true near death experience

THE INCIDENT It was a Saturday evening, when i finished my private Physics tution and walked to the main roads to hire an auto rickshaw. The story is five years old, when I was 17 and a student in 11th standard/grade. I was doing my plus twos(11th and 12th grade) studies from a popular school in the main city area, which was 45 kms away from my home. So me and my friends had this arrangement where we had a small flat in the main city very close to our new school and on weekends we would take a short hour ride to our home and stay there till the Monday morning when we journey back to the city. Without a doubt we were always eager for Saturday or any school holidays to travel back home and eat good food, spend time with family and my precious TV, watching Doraemon all the time. (LOL!! Right!) An Auto Rickshaw Evening is a rush hour on the roads of the city, Dhanbad, if any one is interested. All the auto rickshaws just passed by without stopping because they were all over fille

To have or Not to have a Pet

Image
I bought a brand new Dell Keyboard today and I was so excited to check it out, but had no idea what to write. So here's something that everybody loves- Puppies. Ever since my childhood it has been my dream to have a pet of my own and dogs are my biggest fantasy. My parents were never pet persons so we never had any animal at home. Since I moved out 3 years ago I have always thought about it. Some two years back I made up my mind and got myself a tiny little fish bowl. It made me so happy. Over time I have upgraded it to a small planted aquarium with a few neon tetras and shrimps. But there is some reservations to call tiny little fishes my pets. First they are very tiny. Second they are not intelligent enough to understand me as their "hooman" . Third they do not response back with love and affection. Fourth their life spans are often very short. So you see fishes and aqua scaping are amazing hobbies but that's just it- a hobby. On the contrary bigger mammals like

My bad flying experience...

Image
I am not a very frequent flyer. I generally prefer Railways over Flights. This year in Jan I travelled to-and-fro to home after my exams to meet my family after a long time. I was flying after a very long time. Thank fully my friend was accompanying me to my layover in New Delhi. Before the flight I was scared that I might get air sick. So as per my text books and advice by my friends I took an Avomin tab right before the first part of the journey. And Oh boy! It was a bad idea. The tab has a very strong sedative side effect. As soon as I boarded I tried to entertain myself in all possible ways but it was all in vain. My eye lids started feeling heavy, and nothing would keep me awake. I am a 6 feet tall person and the space provided by Indian economical airlines for a person is hardly enough for a 6 year old, all to increase their margins. I dropped my tray and crashed my head over it but it was so congested on my seat, my legs felt numb coupled with at least 4 crying babies made

NOT SO Happy Memories of Diwali PS: Its Hilarious...

Image
Tomorrow is Diwali. The most Beautiful and Expressive of all Hindu Festivals. Although this Festival of lights is now darkened with air and noise pollution and Extremely high electricity consumption but it doesn't stops us from celebrating it in same old ways. Anyways I am away from my family this Diwali again and I miss them badly. As usual these days I woke up very late, watched some old but supper funny Ellen Degeneres videos on YouTube from her early Stand-up days and finally I showered in the evening. Its no secret to my friends that my little flat is an example of Worst Ventilation that may exist so every now and then I have to open all the doors and windows to facilitate the movement of fresh air and bad air out. That's when my land lady came up to door and asked me for electricity bill papers. I pointed it out to the stairs and handed her my two months bill money. She was in particularly good mood today, she asked me about college, parents and finally invited me to d

A boy with a gift: part VI The Finale

Please read the parts I to V of the short story first, before starting with the sixth. You will find them below a few articles down. The next morning: Opening day of the Bhadra Mela After a heated conversation majority of the family decided Chottu needs to speak to Sarpanch about what might happen today. Against his daughter's will, nana said he wants to accompany chottu for his safety. They both hurried towards his house only to find Ahmed mama standing alone outside. He inquired why were they panting and chottu told him about his dream. Ahmed said he knew where he would be now according to his wife. All three rushed to the fields of the fair, where the sarpanch was supposed to be inaugurating the fair. On the way Ahmed mama tells he wanted to meet sarpanch to allow all the poor "untouchable" kids from the slums across the river to come to fair. Nana agreed with the idea, they were innocent little kids after all. Sarpanch sahib was surrounded by people all around.

5 Celebrity power couples I so wish existed

Image
This is a follow-up on my last article where I mourn some broken-up power couples. This time I will tell you about some stupendous power couples that might have existed, in some other dimension I guess. Here it comes... Rekha and Amitabh Bachhan Amitabh Bachhan and Rekha- My dream couple is Bollywood legends Amitabh and Rekha. There alleged secret relationship was the talk of the town during there days. But unfortunately, his dad arranged his marriage with Jaya Bhaduri. But no one can deny, their on-screen chemistry was beyond the reel life. If they had got married, they would have been a power to reckon with today. Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias J-Lo and Enrique Iglesias- They are best of friends. They tour the world together, both Latinas, both gorgeous looking, massive music makers and Fashionistas!!! But they are just friends. ;(  While Jennifer Lopez keeps falling in heartless hell-sent guys one after another who leave her as soon as they have taken en

Celebrity Breakups that broke my heart ;(

Image
Celebrity marriages have been known to be very "opaque" all over the world. Its all roses and chocolates on the outside and often adultery and abuse on the inside. The recent Brangelina Breakup shattered my heart into pieces, but last night when I read Brad Pitt has been accused of physically and verbally abusing his kids on various occasions, I lost a lot of respect and love for the Actor (that's if the charges are proven right, I hope not) This power couples was an inspiration, a goal for so many couples out there, not to forget each gorgeous Fashionistas, super talented in their fields, were an absolute power Couple. Today I will talk about few such power couples that broke up, kicking little cupid's butt and snap our hearts into billion pieces... Angelina Jolie and Bradd Pitt Brangelina-   Married for only 2 years but in a relationship for 12 years, Angelina Jolie and Bradd Pitt popularly called as Brangelina were Hollywood's most glamourous power co

I am a proud male FEMINIST

Image
There is no denial that the human society is a male dominated one. It has been so for the last thousands of years. From the West to the East, men have dominated all spheres of power ranging from Politics to Business and Home. Women have been denied, suppressed and kept away from opportunities intentionally for far too long. Its been a long time now and things are up for a change! India is a conservative country and growing up here, I saw innumerable stances where woman were treated differently. The term "conservative" here is rather synonymous with patriarchy, most women would just be child bearing housewives and have no say in decisions or marriage or any rights on inheritance. In my own family in spite of being equally loved, I being a male child received better resources, more opportunities then my sisters. We are ending 2016 very soon and women today play so many roles that men can only dream. They are proving how very indispensable to society they are, and not just in

A boy with a gift: part V

Please read the parts I to IV of the short story first, before starting with the fifth. You will find them right below part V. It was an important day for Jaunpur. The government was deploying electrical poles and wires. Jaunpur was moving a step closer to the future. Electricity was a luxury they had only heard of but never saw. Everybody was excited, so was nana. Jaunpur post office was one of the first few infrastructures to see light after dark, free of cost. Rumours said the post office might get fans too. Nana worked at the post office since last 38 years and never in his entire carrier did the building receive such a major overhaul. So by no means was nana going to stay at home today in spite of Sumitra's confession about chottu's nightmare. All the vendors of the market had also applied for connections. The installment was done. Pundit was called to worship the new system. After cracking a coconut, the lever was pulled by nana himself. The lights glowed and chased

Real Funny stories from my Medical College

Image
Hello, I'm a medical student, 3rd year and this blog is my hobby. Thinking about what to write next I had a stupendous idea. In this article I would like to tell u about a few funny incidents from my med school. Most are funny and few sad. The thing is life of a doctor is not exactly very interesting, as they show on Grey's Anatomy. But sometimes you do encounter interesting stories that you remember for long. The first time I saw cadavers- Anatomy is a first year subject, and I can never forget the first afternoon at the college, when we entered the dissection hall. The pungent, strong smell of formalin was everywhere and it made my mind wonder can formalin fumes be harmful to health, that's until I saw shrunk, dark & scary dead bodies lying on the table waiting for us to touch, dissect and learn from it. I remember a poem saying "when the dead teaches the living", it was literally meant over there. It was utterly disgusting first few days. The obese cada

Lady gaga's Joanne

Image
Lady GaGa- A name synonymous with fame and enigma, has risen once again from her ashes with JOANNE in 2016. Her last album Cheek to Cheek even though a critical and commercial success( it won a grammy), failed to garner my attention simply because it was jazz, and I tried believe it or not but "This lady is a tramp" made my ears bleed so I couldn't go any further. But that's because of my personal indifference over jazz. Thank god, its not Jazz again with Joanne. The fame/monster and Born this way led to an International acclaim so massive, its been achieved by very few in the history of music. Lady gaga became a household name, either worshipped or hated which often had less to do with her music, but more with her costumes, controversies and rivalries. Clearly this girl knew how to make global headlines, that's good publicity. There is no doubt that GaGa is an absolute musical genius, but the failure of Artpop to capture the market like it was supposed to, l
