Wonder Woman 2017: A thought
Today I went out with friends after a very long time to watch a movie: Wonder Woman, even though I had my eyes set on Baywatch, but they convinced me. All DC comics super heroes I know are Batman, Superman and Green Lantern. My only memory of Wonder Woman was when Penny was forced to wear the costume by her friends for New Years Eve costume party in The Big Bang Theory. It was quite refreshing to see a female Superhero take lead in a big budget movie in quite some time.
About the movie, let me begin by saying that Gal Gadot is looking phenomenally beautiful and casting her as the lead was an incredible choice.
Spoilers Alert!!! The movie is mostly a flash back into the memories of the Wonder Woman, here and after WW, as she looks into an old picture. A princess Diana in a hidden island gets trained by her army, all women, very feministic, in order to fight Aeres, the god of war and son of Zeus and bring peace to mankind, who one day saves a good looking British spy (Chris Pine) from the German Navy, who then bitches all about the ongoing World War (the second one with Adolf Hitler) which encourages WW to get out there and use her super human powers. WW convinced that Aeres is behind the war, kills the obvious villain in the German Army only to find Aeres was actually working inside the British Army itself instigating them to war and everything. How clever but predictable. Ultimately WW and Aeres fight to death while Chris Pine sacrifices his life to save London. And did I mention they fall in love with each other. Theres a shady Indian character who is super annoying and has no significant talents, and I'm pretty sure half my country is already offended.
My Ultra dramatic story telling aside, it was a good movie. The scenes, animations, costumes were all good but what caught my attention was the incredible action scenes. Every thing about it was breath taking. Animations, slo-mo, sequences, co-ordination, scenes, backgrounds etc. Now I have no idea about the actual parameters used to judge action scenes, but its a casual movie watcher's opinion. Take it or leave it. I loved it. All in all its worth the time and money. Now I had two important questions that stuck my mind. In all the Anti-German superhero movies like this and Captain America, why don't they just kill Adolf Hitler and get over the whole deal rather then killing 3rd class villains. And also wouldn't an all women Army be rendered useless 5 days a month. :D No offence, just kidding.
I'm probably never watching it again and it had no significant value to take home except DC comics is back in the game and ready to bite Marvel's ass. Nighty night Y'all.
